Exmouth’s Brassed-Off Dinosaurs

Exmouth’s popular dinosaur brass rubbing trail has now been enhanced with a digital free to download app.

Ordnance Survey developed their ‘Secret Stories’ app after realising that the number of people exploring their own neighbourhood had risen during COVID lockdowns and reached out to towns and cities for potential partnership opportunities.

Veronica Boatman, Tourism Officer for Exmouth Town Council said:

“We immediately saw the potential and a brilliant opportunity to use the app to enhance the dinosaur brass-rubbing trail. Working in partnership with Ordnance Survey, the ‘Exmouth’s Brassed-Off Dinosaurs’ trail was created. We really hope that children and families enjoy it as much as we did in developing it.”

The trail is available to download on the OS ‘Secret Stories’ app. Once downloaded search for ‘Exmouth’s Brassed-Off Dinosaurs.’ It’s the ideal free activity for budding dinosaur hunters and adults alike who enjoy a challenge! The self-guided trail is a circular walk that combines clues to hunt and find and then collect your brass rubbing – with stories along the way (told in a similar way to Horrible Histories). You will need paper and crayons, or you can collect a ‘dinosaur pack’ with everything you need from the Exmouth Tourist Information, 45A The Strand, for just £1. Further details can be found on the visitexmouth.org website.
